Dyslexia Awareness Week

Posted by Michelle Crosby on

Today (3rd October 2022) marks the start of Dyslexia Awareness Week.

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability which is believed to affect around 10% of the UK population. It can be frustrating for children who struggle to read due to dyslexia or visual stress to engage with traditional texts, but I firmly believe there’s a book out there for everyone!

Barrington Stoke is a small independent publisher who specialise in producing super-readable, dyslexia-friendly stories to help every child become a reader.

Some of the features of Barrington Stoke books include:

  • Unique dyslexia-friendly font,
  • Accessible layout and spacing,
  • Off-white heavier paper,
  • Content matched to the age of the reader, rather than their reading level,
  • Short books and chapters.

With books from authors such as Nick Sharratt, Lisa Thomson, Phil Earle, Katherine Woodfine, Malorie Blackman, Eoin Colfer, Tom Palmer, and many more you’re sure to find something to suit!

I’m proud to stock Barrington Stoke books both in the shop and on the website and am happy to provide advice and guidance on finding the perfect book for your little (or not so little!) ones.
