Your Friday Update from B For Butterfly Books: Friday 30th October 2026

October 30, 2026

NOW THAT THE CLOCKS HAVE GONE BACK THE SHOP HAS A LOVELY COSY FEEL TO IT AS THE EVENINGS DRAW IN.

DON'T FORGET WE'RE OPEN 12-7 ON WEDNESDAYS SO YOU CAN POP IN OUTSIDE NORMAL WORKING HOURS FOR A BROWSE. WE'LL ALSO HAVE SOME SPECIAL CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENINGS COMING UP SOON…

This will be our final FIVER FRIDAY of 2026 as we concentrate on the lead up to Christmas, and it's an important one.

I'm delighted to announce that we will be supporting the Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal again this year, so as this week's FIVER FRIDAY I'm asking for a £5 donation to purchase books for the appeal.

You can make a donation at this link or by popping into the shop.

You can drop off donations of toys, gifts, wrapping paper and selection boxes suitable for children aged 01-14 in the shop until the end of November. We'll also have plenty of suitable books available to purchase to donate direct to Wood Street Mission.

If you work for a local company and would like to make a larger donation to the Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal please get in touch for special discounts and a curated list of books and gifts.

Thanks to our partnership with Pan Macmillan we were able to donate a copy of It's the Gruffalo Finger Puppet Book book for every copy of Gruffalo Granny sold in the shop between 10th September and 10th October.

That means we've already donated 32 books to the Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal.

Thanks to everyone who bought a copy of Gruffalo Granny and helped us make this donation.

‘Tis the season to start thinking about advent calendars…if you’ve not already!

We have a selection in the shop, including the incredibly popular TASKMASTER ADVENT CALENDAR 2026, and can order in many others.

Pop into the shop for a browse or get in touch to order your advent calendar before they sell out.

I'm really looking to welcoming Emmy Hart AKA Suzanne Ewart into the shop next week (Wednesday 4th November at 7pm) to chat about her new book THE BEST EX OF MY LIFE. She'll be joined by Carolyn O'Brien, author of ROSE & RENZO.

Tickets are available at this link.

We'll also be welcoming Chris Frost AKA Chris McDonald into the shop on Thursday 12th November to chat about his Christmas thriller THE CHRISTMAS CAROL KILLER. Chris will be interviewed by local author Steven Kedie.

Tickets are available at this link.

3rd November sees the release of the latest Dog Man book A SPRINKLE IN TIME!

Order your copy today for collection on the day and we'll throw in a free sticker sheet, while stocks last!

AND FINALLY…I've managed to get my hands on one final signed copy of GAMES OF MY LIFE by Alex Ferguson which appear to be sold out everywhere!

Priced at £40 this would make the perfect gift for a Man United fan.

My initial stock sold out on the website within a matter of days so I'm offering this to my email subscribers first. If you'd like it simply reply to this email.

First come, first served!
