I HAVE TO BE HONEST. I'M A LITTLE RELIEVED TO SEE THE RETURN TO MORE NORMAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS THIS WEEK! MORE HEATWAVES ARE APPARENTLY ON THE WAY…BUT I CHOOSE TO IGNORE THIS AND CRANK THE AC UP TO 11 AS AND WHEN REQUIRED!

BUT NOW BACK TO BUSINESS…

Our FIVER FRIDAY offer this week is a book that has previously been on offer in the shop for half price but I'm now offering at 75% off for this weekend only.

UNSCHOOLED by Caro Giles is the story of one woman's ongoing battles with the education system. With lyrical prose and unflinching honesty, Caro chronicles the relentless bureaucracy and isolation of being a single mother navigating a system that refuses to see her children. It's a story that is far too relatable to many in the UK and definitely worth a read.

RRP £20, this weekend available for £5, with £4 postage if required.

Simply reply to this email to reserve your copy.

We're approaching that time of year when some of you might be thinking about teacher gifts.

Whether you're planning a class collection or going solo we've got a great range of cards, books and gifts available. If you're not sure what they'd like then a shop voucher or National Book Token gives them the gift of choice to select their own summer reading.

Our next author event takes place on Wednesday and sees the welcome return to the shop of Rob Parker and Steven Kedie.

Rob will be chatting about his new paperback release FORBIDDEN WATERS which follows Cam Killick, a former Royal Marine and salvage diver who has discovered a knife at the bottom of a hidden lake.

But how do you solve a murder without a body?

I'd love for you to join us for what promises to be a night filled with fun, laughter and a few trade secrets or two...

Tickets are £5 each and can be purchased at this link.

Were you lucky enough to grab one of our HIGH FIVE vouchers given out during International Bookshop Week?

If so, don't forget to register it online and bring back into the shop for £5 off your next purchase, courtesy of National Book Tokens.

Jon has been busily tinkering with the website and I'm pleased to see that the new version has now gone live. Some of you may see the old version and I'm told that this will require some clearing of cookies and caches. If this means nothing to you, you're not alone! But feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help.

We've now reached the end of our June Sale Festival events and we'd love to know your thoughts.

Whether you attended events, couldn't make it or are asking, ‘What’s Sale Festival'? we'd love to hear from you.

This helps our team of volunteers to consider what worked well and what you'd like to see in the future.

You can find the link to the survey here. All respondents have the chance to win a £25 voucher from Chez Nous Bistro and one of three £20 shopping and dining vouchers from Stanley Square.

That's everything for this week.

Hopefully see you in the shop soon.

Michelle
