Find Out How You Can Support the Books Forever Appeal in 2026.

I’m delighted to announce that B For Butterfly Books will be supporting the Wood Street Mission BOOKS FOREVER APPEAL again in 2026!
“Our Books Forever project helps transform the lives of local children through reading. Books change lives – books can inspire, encourage imagination and creativity, and help improve reading skills. We want to ensure that children can access books even when their families may be struggling.” Wood Street Mission
Statistics from Manchester City Council show that in the city of Manchester, 44% of children grow up in poverty while research by the National Literacy Trust estimates that 1 in 11 children in the UK don’t own a single book.
This is where you can make a difference.
Last year, Wood Street Mission distributed 14,710 books to 2,999 children affected by poverty in Greater Manchester and Salford.
This year Wood Street Mission are asking supporters to donate a new copy of their favourite childhood book, or the price of one. This year we particularly need fiction and non-fiction books for ages 4-11.
There are a number of ways you can help:
-
Visit the website bforbutterflybooks.com and purchase a book with a note saying ‘Books Forever Donation’ in the ‘Special Instructions for Seller’ box;
-
Make a financial donation at https://bforbutterflybooks.com/products/donate-a-book-wood-street-mission-books-forever-appeal which will be converted into new books;
-
Drop off brand new books for children at B For Butterfly Books, 8 Brooklands Road, Sale, M33 3SQ. Please note that only brand new books can be accepted for the BOOKS FOREVER APPEAL. Second-hand books can be donated directly to Wood Street throughout the year.
-
Share this blog and information about the appeal on social media using the hashtag #BooksForeverAppeal and tagging @BForButterflyBooks and @WoodStreetMission.
All donations, however large or small, are gratefully received.
Please ensure that donations reach B For Butterfly Books by Friday 15th May so we can deliver them to Wood Street Mission by the appeal deadline.
